The global COVID-19 pandemic has hit us hard. We are a new business therefore we do not qualify for any of the financial government support.

Myself and Stacie took on The Woodman pub May 15th 2019
Initially it was a 3 month temporary agreement due to the fact the property was on the market to be sold. The brewery made this decision as for a number of years and previous tenants had failed to comply with the tenancy agreements. Not only that but the pub had lost the one most important thing, the local community.
We convinced the brewery to give us a chance to turn it around and give the local community their pub back.
The brewery had set a weekly target to hit for the three month period. This was going to be a challenge, we had to take into account our business overheads and the fact we could only sell drinks as the Kitchen had to be stripped out but we could see and feel how much potential the pub had and was determined to do it.
With Lots of hard work, determination and support from the local community we had convinced the brewery to take the pub off the market.
The kitchen was finally installed late November (was agreed to be 1st Sept) and we launched our food menu on the 1st of December. Since then we have been able to employee a great team of staff and give the community back their pub.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic we like many others have been hit hard. We are a new business therefore we do not qualify for any financial support offered from the government. We understand that many more are in the same boat and this is a very tough time for everyone.
We have really enjoyed giving the community their pub back and would love nothing more than to keep on doing so. Myself and Stacie are so grateful for all the support we have received from all of our customers and we couldn't of got this far without you.
A little extra help is greatly needed at the moment to keep this dream alive and to support our staff. We have the uncertainty of not knowing how long will this last for and as this business is our only source of income we need as much help as we can.
Stacie and I believe that when this nightmare is over for all of us, we can restart the business as we did before all of this happened.
The Woodman is a beautiful pub located in Southgate just along from Grovelands park and originally dates back to 1727 when it was two cottages. it was first licenced as a pub by a retired policeman in 1868. It has so much history and character it would be a shame for to see it go.
